Sandstone

Sandstone is one of the most common types of sedimentary rock found in the world.

European & Far East Sourced.

About

It’s one of the most common types of sedimentary rock found in the world. Created over millions of years from deposited sand grains (weathered fragments of rocks) and other minerals that have compacted and lithified into an attractive and versatile material. The resulting stone has been a large part of the construction industry for centuries.

This paving was traditionally produced by splitting (or riving) layers from a block extracted from a quarry. Riven paving remains a popular choice today mainly for commercial conservation projects but also for the thriving domestic market. Sawn finish is mostly applied in the civils and commercial market.

Why Use?

It possess a number of unique characteristics that make it a popular choice for the construction industry:

  1. Colour – Sandstone comes in a range of varying colours, all dependant on the composite materials and where they originate from. As these grains are deposited by air or water the origins of such grains can be from very different geological locations and produce many natural tonal variations, differing riven profiles and exquisite natural veining.
  2. Durability A naturally hard wearing and durable material, sandstone has subtle features and a classic natural appearance that allows it to perfectly blend into any hard landscaping setting.
